It has been tough this past week. After talking with our insurance company and eventually understanding the language and fine prints, it states the policy provides coverage for business personal property up to a limit of $10k with a $1k deductible. Theres also a $1million liability coverage which essentially covers everything else except our business. Then there's $3.5k for income loss, which totals to a max payment of $12.5k, we'll receive this full payout if we can provide receipts and evidence that now exists as soot and ash. This wouldnt even cover the cost of the exhaust and fire system if we wanted to rebuild again.
There were many things we did wrong, being naive first time business owners. maybe hiring a lawyer to explain our policy would've prevented this problem. However it would not have have been feasible anyhow since it was just a small business.
Who would've thought that the American dream we worked our whole life for be taken away in just a few hours. Who are we going to blame? It's nobody's fault, but our own.
We know these feelings will pass. There are truly amazing people with good hearts at every corner to help us. The love and support from our customers make us want to come back bigger and better, because for a moment we were going to walk away from it all. However you all have show, not only us but the community that we as people are strong. BANH MI STRONG.
Anything you can give will help, but please dont feel obligated to do so. however you are obligated to eat at our new place.The plan is to reach the goal so banks are more willing to take a chance on us with a loan because our previous shop was built with our savings and small loans from family and friends. You do your best we do the rest.
