My mom and I did this crazy thing...

Donation protected
I had a dream:

I woke up on January 5th with a dream that I loaded my boys in the van and we took off to visit the 51 capitals in 51 days. I thought about it all morning, so after church I went to Google Maps and took my first stab at an itinerary. That initial planning showed me that it could be done "“ you can visit all 51 capitals in the U.S. within the 51 day time frame, including flying to Hawaii and Alaska.

Over the next few days I told family, friends and co-workers about the crazy dream I had. I couldn't stop thinking about it and the thought that my boys would be able to say for the rest of their lives:

"When I was a teenager my mom and I did this crazy thing:"

A week went by. I was still thinking about it (and talking about it) constantly.

Next the idea came to me that my sister HAD to join us.

51 Capitals in 51 Days before her 51st Birthday in the fall:

So many people told me that it was a great idea:

: and they wished they could tag along (couldn't I just get a bus?).

: and this is the time to create memories and lasting bonds with my teenage boys.

: and we'll have stories to share for generations to come.

: and our eight-day, nine-state, 3,600 mile road trip last summer was a test run.

So now we're inviting you to come along with us on our journey. Not everyone can jump in the car to join us, but you can take part.

There are many ways you can be involved:

"¢ Make comments on our blog posts, on Facebook and on Pinterest. We want to interact with you!
"¢ Sign up for email reminders so you don't miss our blog updates.
"¢ Tell your friends about our trip so they can follow us, too.
"¢ Meet us at a capitol building. Our itinerary is posted on our blog.
"¢ Finally, in much the same way that you'd pay for a fancy lunch or a movie or a magazine or a book, we're hoping that you'll be part of the adventure of our trip. If what we're doing has inspired or moved you in any way, won't you contribute to our trip expenses on this GoFundMe campaign?

In return, we'll do our best to make you a part of our journey, entertaining, educating and inspiring you through words, photos and perhaps a few videos. We can't wait to get started on June 28th.

We look forward to sharing our experiences with you,
Alisa, Tristan, Nicholas and D
