My 50th Birthday Wish

My dear readers and friends:
On August 03, 2017, I turn 50 years old. Exciting!
As I pass this milestone, I am asking my readers to consider contributing to an opportunity that means a lot to me: attendance to the Network for Public Education 4th Annual Conference (Oakland, CA, October 14-15, 2017).
I have already registered for the event, which has limited seating. I have also determined that the total cost for my attendance, as well as for fees for using GoFundMe, will total $1,350.
I could pay out-of-pocket; However, doing so will put a strain on my finances. For the first three NPE conferences, I attended as a presenter and requested financial assistance from NPE in that capacity. This year, I would simply like to attend and enjoy hearing others present. And I would like to do so without asking NPE for financial assistance. NPE has been good enough to help fund me in the past, and the organization continues to offer financial assistance for those who need it. This year, I prefer to leave that money to other teachers so that NPE might help them attend.
