Let’s Help Joshua Smith And Family
Hello my name is Renee Greene and I work at PWMS & Portland Gateview Elementary. I received a message Sunday morning 1/14/17 from Crystal (Joshua Smith and Tristan Perdue’s mom) that their family had been in a head on collision due to ice. Joshua (6th grade student at PWMS) was life flighted to Vanderbilt Children’s hospital and little brother Tristan (Portland Gateview Elementary student) taken by ambulance. Tristan, Mom, and Dad are all ok now and have been released from the hospital however Joshua Smith is still in ICU. He has a fracture in his skull causing swelling in his brain along with several face fractures. As of 1/18/17 Joshua is still in ICU and the doctors are focusing on getting the swelling of the brain to come down. Mom and Dad now have a room at The Ronald McDonald house which is such a blessing to have a place to lay your head and be so close to your baby. People have asked what can we do? Money donated here will go towards helping with food, gas, and bills that they may need help with. That is one less worry this family can have. Joshua has a long road ahead. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.+ Read More
Just want to give yall an update on josh . He has been making wonderful progress. So wonderful they sent him home today. He no longer will require inpatient therapy out of state. We will just do outpatient therapy. Thank you everyone for everything. It really means alot to our family.
Update on Joshua. He is making major improvements. He is showing these therapist just how strong willed he is. He is walking with help. He can understand everything he is being asked. He still has his silly personality. He still gets really tired when doing thepary but that is all to be expected. He isn't able to talk due to his head injury. He will need to go to a rebhabilation center after we get discharged from the hospital. We are waiting to hear from a place in Birmingham Alabama. He did have to get a feeding tube placed in his belly today. This i believe will not be a permanent thing. He is on a mechanical soft diet. He isn't able to drink anything because he still chokes on liquid. His eye is healing nicely from his surgery last week. Me and his father want to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for everything everyone has done. I could never tell you in words how much this means to us.
