UPDATE: NOV. 19TH
This is a long overdue update....

THE GOOD NEWS: Marnie, Felix, and Keesha are all in their new furever homes. Marnie is doing well, her only issue is diabetes, which is under control with insulin and diet. Felix is also doing well. He is mostly recovered. He is a bit shy, but a friendly chunk. Keesha is still battling a URI, but is improving.

THE SAD NEWS: We lost Oreo and are absolutely heartbroken. Oreo stole our hearts very quickly. He was one of the friendliest kitties we have known. Even when he didn't feel well, he always greeted us at the front of his kennel. Several days ago, the vet found him on his side. His glucose level plummeted as did his blood pressure. A golf ball sized tumor was also found. The little guy was skin and bones. On his last day, when we visited him, he was on his side feeling terribly, but still reached out with his paw toward our volunteer and pulled her in close to him. He looked into her eyes and continued pulling her closer into him. He had the most beautiful green eyes. Despite his physical condition, he had a lot of life in him and was a kitty who could see into your soul. When he was put to sleep, his paw was held and his head was kissed several times. He was very, very loved. Both Sterling and Oreo were taken Upstate and buried together side by side in our volunteer's parent's backyard. A statue of St. Francis, saint of the animals, was placed on top of their grave. We will miss you sweet Oreo. Fly free with Sterling. We will all see you one day again. Here is a photo of Oreo when he was doing a bit better. He always needed his little pawsy wawsy to be touching someone. XOXO sweet boy.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO HELP: The vet's bill was more than $5,000. We have, thus far, only been able to cover approx. $3,000 with donations. We are only able to continue rescuing ACC shelter cats with your help. Please donate. Every bit helps. Thank you so much!! Meow.

UPDATE: NOV. 8TH

We are heartbroken to report that a decision was made to send tabby boy STERLING over the rainbow bridge. This sweet boy came to the us in rough shape, though was purring and greeting vet staff just yesterday. This morning, he was on his side, and extremely lethargic with blood seeping from his mouth. His RBC was 7%. He would have needed 2-3 blood transfusions. The vet felt he was already in grave condition and had a poor prognosis, so the decision was made to peacefully let him go. We held his paw and told him we loved him. While purring, he gave us sweet blinky eyes in return. It was an extremely sad moment and we will dearly miss this beautiful boy.

OREO is also not doing so well. This guy is just about the sweetest old man kitty you could ever meet. He is such a mush and has the funniest little tuxie face. He has diabetes, fluid in his stomach, and is very emaciated. Despite insulin injections, his glucose levels wildly swing from very high to quite low. We are needing to get to the bottom of what is causing the fluid in his stomach and stabilize his blood sugar levels.

KEESHA is still battling a URI. She is in ISO, and so we do not have an updated photo of her (as to not further stress her). She is a beautiful gray plush sweetie pie. She is allowing staff to syringe feed her, so that is good news.

MARNIE also has diabetes, but is otherwise doing well. She is very thin, so needs to put some meat on her bones. She is also extremely affectionate. This girl loves to shoving her face into our hands for lots of love and attention.

FELIX, our very handsome tuxie boy with the big fat puddy head, is doing very well. This sweet boy survived being hit by a car and thankfully came to us with only some skin issues and an eye infection. He is quite shut down and shy, but the healthiest of the bunch.

PLEASE continue to donate. We had to change our goal from $3000 to $5000, as we have already spent $2650 and that does not include the next 24 hours. We have several further diagnostic tests that we need to cover.

Thank you for caring about these sweet souls.

UPDATE: WE HAVE OUR HANDS FULL! Please donate whatever you can. Every bit helps. Thank you!!

STERLING: This tabby boy is in rough shape. He has severe anemia, with a RBC of 12% (35% is normal). And he is very dehydrated and thin. He is receiving IV fluids, Epogen, app stim, and nutritional support. He may also need a blood transfusion. Love and paws crossed for this sweet older gentleman. We are most worried about him.

KEESHA: This sweet older gray plush girl has a severe URI with a fever. She is receiving sub-Q fluids, antibiotics, app stim, and nutritional support.

OREO: This handsome tuxie boy is also in rough shape. His glucose was 400 this morning, and that is with taking insulin. He is also very dehydrated. He is receiving IV fluids, app stim, insulin, and an appropriate diabetic diet.

MARNIE: This pretty gray fluff girl is doing better than the others. Her glucose, however, was quite high this morning, reading 430. She is receiving app stim, insulin, and an appropriate diabetic diet.

FELIX: We are awaiting an update for today for our handsome tuxie Hit By Car kitty. As of yesterday, he was on IV fluids, antibiotics, and nutritional support.
