James & Lacey’s Story

James and Lacey have been happily married for nine years and counting. Anyone who has spent time with them knows very well that they are a loving and generous couple. They have a gift of making all feel at ease, never meeting a stranger and always making a new friend. James and Lacey love spending time with friends and family. They frequently do special things with their nieces and nephews, looking for new adventures and time well spent. James and Lacey both adore children. Lacey operates her family owned daycare and James is a service technician for an offshore drilling company.

James and Lacey decided together three years ago they were ready to start a family of their own. Three years went by and they were unsuccessful at getting pregnant the “old fashioned way”. During the three year time period, they suffered from three miscarriages, one being ectopic.

With the support of their family and friends as well as their strong faith in God, they decided to seek medical advice. Lacey began taking Clomid, a medication to treat infertility in women. James and Lacey became pregnant twice, unfortunately both resulted in miscarriages. The next step was to add hormone shots along with continuing the Clomid which resulted in two more pregnancies that ultimately lead to miscarriages as well.

Lacey had to undergo surgery as the miscarriages had created scar tissue on her uterus and tubes. At this point not only was Lacey being treated for infertility, she was also taking several medications to control her blood pressure and was at an unhealthy weight. After much research, discussion, prayer and with the full support of James, her family and friends, Lacey decided to also undergo weight loss surgery. Today Lacey has lost over 100 pounds and no longer is taking medication to control her blood pressure.

James and Lacey took a break from treatment to allow time to save money and to recover mentally and physically. James and Lacey began In vitro Fertilization (IVF) September 2015; In Vitro Fertilization is the joining of a woman’s egg and a man’s sperm outside of the body in a laboratory dish. James and Lacey are both carriers of MTHFR gene mutation, a genetic disorder that makes it very difficult for them to to become pregnant naturally for a viable pregnancy. Their doctors were very optimistic that IVF would be successful but much to their disappointment, the first round of IVF was unsuccessful.

Cost of IVF – In Vitro Fertilization:

* IVF Package (ultrasounds, blood tests, egg retrieval, transfer and storage): $18,300.00

* Medication: $5500.00

* None of this is covered by insurance.

James and Lacey have so much love to give and desperately want to start a family. They have a strong and unshakeable faith that God will continue to guide them on this journey. They plan to start a second round of IVF as soon as they have saved enough money. The second round means that medications will be doubled along with three shots given twice daily. This fund was created with the permission of James and Lacey. They did not want to ask for help from others but many supporters have followed their courageous and inspiration journey through social media and want to help. Donations, thoughts and prayers are all greatly appreciated. I know that with the donations, prayers, and support their dream will become a reality very soon. Thank you and God Bless.
