Barn-Raising

Talking Tree Farm is a 2 year old permaculture project with a focus on market production. We currently grow on about an acre in Converse, TX. We sell our produce at the Pearl Brewery Farmers Market and offer free classes & tours every month. After farming for many years on someone else’s land, we finally have the opportunity to buy our own. We have purchased 2.5 acres of pasture land, situated 20 min from downtown San Antonio. We will transform it into a 1.5 acre market garden and 1 acre of fruit production. Our goal is to provide fresh, organically grown fruits and vegetables for the community and teach about farming and sustainability. Building the barn will be our first step toward the project, it will be used as a washing station, to store equipment and produce, and to give further permaculture classes to teach people how to grow their own food.
