A Scooter For Dave

This is Dave. Dave has cystic fibrosis (CF). CF can affect many parts of the body, but Dave's lungs are the most affected organ in his case. Dave does a heck of a lot to stay alive and healthy. Despite his efforts his lungs have taken a beating over the course of his life.
On his good days he manages extremely well, but on his bad days things can be a struggle. On his bad days Dave cannot walk his two dogs in the morning. He finds it difficult to get to the grocery store for basic supplies. He defers picking up medications from the chemist until a better day comes around. Doing exercise to build strength and fitness is completely out of the question. Getting out of the house to engage with people is not possible. Recovery from any of these activities can take days.
One day Dave hired a mobility scooter to see if it would make a difference and allow him to take part in activities of daily living and social events. It's been an excellent experiment!
He has been able to scooter alongside his dogs for their morning walk and accompany his wife for the dogs' evening walk. Without the scooter Flame and Scout had to rely upon evening walks more often than they would like.
Dave has been able to scooter with ease to a grocery store which is about a ten minute walk each way and up a hill on the way back.
He has even been able to collect a 12kg bag of dog food from the vet which would have been a struggle at best, and impossible at worst.
It's also had a positive effect upon his social life. He's been able to have a chat to fellow dog walking friends in the park whilst reclining on the scooter instead of hurrying through the task to get home quickly and rest his legs.
Dave needs your help to afford this scooter. Any funds collected will be gratefully received and funnelled directly into:
1) the purchasing of a scooter
2) the insurance of the scooter
3) the servicing of the scooter.
If Dave is lucky enough to receive additional funds they will be:
1) used to purchase nebuliser equipment
2) saved for the purchase of a portable oxygen concentrator to enable trips to the Blue Mountains in comfort, and for when Dave's lungs decline to such a level that it is useful more often.
