Need new lungs! :-(

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Joe and I have a rare lung disease called IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis). The only cure is a lung transplant. I was diagnosed just 3 months ago and I am on oxygen 24/7. This disease scars the lung tissue, restricting air flow. Right now the prognosis without a transplant is maybe 3 years. With a transplant I'm good as gold.

Currently, not only am I on oxygen constantly I am taking 6 different drugs to combat this disease.

Funds are needed for medications, surgery and after. I will be in the hospital for 2 weeks for the surgery and immediate recovery and then be required to stay downtown Charleston for 2 more weeks. Housing is not provided so I will need to stay in a hotel.

I will not be able to work at least 3 months, probably longer. Kathy, my wife, will also not be able to work for 3 months in order to facilitate my recovery.  We live pay check to pay check as it is.

The anti-rejection drugs following the surgery will have a co-pay of at least $600. I will also have to be carrying my own insurance as I will not be  working. All of this adds up and up and up.

Anything any of you can do to help we greatly appreciate it. We are not ones to ask for help; we prefer to be the ones giving help. But we find ourselves in a difficult situation.

Thank you for taking the time to read. All prayers and good wishes needed. Thank you for support.
