Funeral expenses

This is a hard story to tell but because I know there are many out there suffering I will tell my brother's story. On Tuesday night I received a phone call. It was the worst call I could ever get. His girlfriend called and said "Jess, Eric shot himself, he shot himself in the head". I looked at my phone and tried to wake up. I thought it was a bad joke. Then I realized it wasn't a dream and I hurried out the door. He lives down the street from me...by the time I arrived...the police and ambulance were already there. My brother was on a gurney, I couldn't see him clearly, I begged to get close but the officers didn't let me. Next we arrive to the hospital, my husband and parents with me. The absolute worst moments of my life was waiting to hear how critical he was. At the same time trying to reach my older brother to let him know what had happened. When we finally received the update, it was my worst nightmare, the damage was not repairable, they could not do surgery because of how extensive the damage was....he later passed in the ICU 3/6/19 about 2 am. In the five years working as a nurse I never had to watch someone pass before my eyes...now I relive the last breaths my baby brother took. 
Family please take the time to talk to your loved ones. I tried to reach out to my brother, I offered help and he said he was fine, he promised to tell me if he was not. I should have pushed harder, fought more for him...all I can do now is pray. Stay aware,  depression is an illness and suicide is very real. May God rest his soul.
