Theodore's Medical Help

Theodore is a 5 year old male Pit bull that my fiancé and I personally saved from Craigslist in Schenectady NY. He was emaciated, with old fight wounds and scars, and had a slight limp. Despite whatever he went through he was happy and held no grudges against a human for the darkness he has seen. Within a couple of days of his rescue this sweet boy became extremely sick very quickly. We rushed him to a local ER clinic on Thursday 1/21. He was septic, and his blood levels were all over the place. We were told he wouldn't make it through the night, but he did! That ER had no idea what was wrong and suggested either euthanasia or to bring him to Cornell University Animal Hospital. When we ask to see him, he came around the corner with his tail held high and he gave me a kiss. I could tell in his eyes he wasn't ready to give up yet, so neither would we. The ER staff was shocked when I said pack him up he is going to Cornell. With an angel by his side he made the 3 hour drive. The Cornell vets were shocked by his blood work and had no idea how he was alive, but within 3 hours they had him stable, and found a perforation in his small intestine. He made it through surgery. The vets are pretty positive he had been given some sort of medicine over a long period of time more than likely on an empty stomach, which caused an ulcer that burned right through his small intestine. He is still hospitalized with a feeding tube, and we are praying his kidney levels continue to improve because it appears the mystery medication, has also upset his kidneys as well. We spent 1,800 at the first ER clinic and we have an estimate of 6,000 to 8,000 at Cornell. If you could help us offset these cost it would be greatly appreciated. I just looked into those innocent, soulful eyes and knew he was asking for help.
