*Please note that the current figure fundraised here, reflectes the total of our efforts since we begun 2 years ago and not the current amount that we have avaliable. With regular trips to Northern France, your support today is key to keep going. Your donations will always only  be used to directly help refugees.

Help4Refugee Children (H4RC) is an independent grass roots humanitarian organisation created in October 2015, following several visits to Dunkirk and Calais Refugee to deliver humanitarian aid.

During these visits we grew extremely concerned about the conditions in which children and families are living in refugee camps, with little access to essential sanitary facilities, education and support.

Aware of the psychological traumas that the children were suffering, as well as the visibly difficult and dire conditions in which they lived made worse by the winter; we were so heartbroken to meet babies as young as few weeks old that we knew we had to go back, we knew we could not go home and ignore what is happening and continues to happen just two hours away from our doorstep.

So we returned, time and after time and never looked back. For two years now, we have been building engagement with refugees focusing on families, young children and unaccompanied minors by running various creative arts workshops - the benefits of these workshops are: teaching basic English, developing confidence, fun and engaging team building helping children develop trust and maintaining hope during this difficult situation by helping to reduce stress and improve mental health.

Today, our work continues to encompass a number of four important aspects.

  1. We deliver humanitarian aid to refugee camps and illegal settlements
  2. We carry out creative art workshops with children and their families
  3. Support families on their arrival to the UK and continue to build engagement
  4. We advocate for the rights of refugees here in the UK and raise awareness

We do this because less than two hours away from the comfort of our home, there are people who have fled war, severe deprivation and terrorism; who are desperate for a chance to re-build their lives and not enough is being done to to help them.

These are some of the essential your money will buy:

*100% of your donation will always go directky to help refugees. All receipts are avaliable upon request.

AMBER RUDD CONCEDES ON CHILD REFUGEES’ ELIGIBILITY FOR DUBS

We are absolutely thrilled to hear that, after almost two years of incredible public pressure, another arbitrary restriction on child refugees’ eligibility for the Dubs Amendment has been lifted.

Children were previously required to have registered in France, Greece or Italy before 20th March 2016, in order to be considered for transfer. This left thousands of lone children at risk, as new arrivals were ineligible for safe passage to the UK.

Today, Amber Rudd has announced that “France, Greece and Italy will now be able to refer unaccompanied children who arrived in Europe before 18 January 2018” for transfer under the Dubs Amendment – and that the remaining 260 places would be filled “as soon as possible”!

What’s more, the UK Government has committed £3.6 million to working with French authorities in order to identify people who are eligible for family reunion under the Dublin Regulation.

We want to say an enormous thank you to everyone who has campaigned for this – from the hundreds of thousands who have signed petitions, to those who have joined us outside Parliament and the Royal Court of Justice, to every person who spread the word in solidarity with child refugees.

This would not have happened without you. Your efforts have given hundreds of children the chance to begin a new life in safety. Thank you!

Please help us continue to put pressure on the government until this change takes effect and children are brought over to the UK safely.

Dear Friends and Supporters

As you know we have been reporting on families now living in Northern France following the fire in Dunkirk. They are currently in an extremely vulnerable situation living in hiding in various parts with no access to any facilities or running water. They reply entirely on the support of donor and volunteers.

Help4Refugee Children reported on this situation exclusively to the Independent, to help raise awareness of the dire and precarious conditions in which children are currently living in Europe: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/toddlers-babies-northern-france-sleeping-rough-calais-migrants-europe-eu-borders

We also have a petition asking for Theresa May to intervene and help end the inhumane homelessness of families in France: www.change.org/p/theresa-may-end-inhumane-homelessness-of-refugee-children-in-northern-france

As well as continuing our work from London and bringing education opportunities to the children and providing opportunities for them to play by organising regular trips: http://mailchi.mp/6f8a4757200a/police-brutality-against-children-as-young-as-a-few-months-old-1131977

We are also working directly with long term volunteers on the ground in supporting the needs of children, women, families, minors and the most vulnerable daily.

Just yesterday, there was another evacuation of the camp, some families were taken to various parts of France while many were left behind. The police threw away again peoples belonging and pepper sprayed these as per custom, to ensure that they could not be re-used.

We cannot continue this vital work without your support; we are asking that if you can donate that you please consider doing again and if you are not able to do so, that you please share our fundraising link and tell people about our work.

Thank you

Refugee children in Northern France have been not only brutally displaced from their home countries by war and terrorism but also shunned by every single European Government and brutalised and in some cases even beaten by police who are “just doing their jobs”.

In July 2017, Help4Refugee Children saw a three-year-old with a baton bruise in his face. Every week the police go to the camp and dismantle everything which has been put up, to ensure that, nothing permanent is erected and to prevent the formation of a camp; we heard the heart-breaking story of a mother who when the police came had refused to leave her tent about to be bulldozed and told the police “no, I am not leaving, my baby is inside sleeping” the police officer then said “ok” and took out his pepper spray and sprayed her and the occupants of the tent.

There were many, many families, some of them had recently arrived and some had returned to gather following the destruction of the Jungle and the tragic and devastating fire in Dunkirk. The French authorities have played a sinister trick and removed the Jungle, making people believe that the problem is no longer there. However, this is a lie… refugees have not vanished into thin air; They are there, and they live in much worse conditions than we have ever seen.

Everyday that goes past, it's another day which they are suffering.

Thank you for your time, please take one minute to sign this petition.

Dear Supporters

Please consider donating again, we are running low on much needed funds to provide immediate support to families.

Since November 2015, we have been building engagement with refugees focusing on families, young children and unaccompanied minors by running various creative arts workshops - the benefits of these workshops are: teaching basic English, developing confidence, fun and engaging team building helping children develop trust and maintaining hope during this difficult situation. As well as, helping to reduce stress and improve mental health, through engagement in creative, fun and therapeutic activities.

The money you donate to us, helps us continue to support refugees with:

Food
Sleeping Bags
Tents
Baby Boxes with essentials for babies and toddlers
Safety alarms
Medicine
Basic toiletries
Sanitary products
Educational materials
Books to learn English & French
Phone credit for minors and families so that they can keep in touch with their loved ones

Also, in recent months H4RC has been contacted by refugee families in the UK in desperate need of support. H4RC has been befriending families and connecting them with local support services however families still struggle to access basic supplies like food, hygiene products and clothes. While H4RC is still collecting emergency provisions for refugees in France we are also now collecting donations and funds to support refugees in need here in the UK.

We have been contacted by agencies working with families and individuals who are at risk of destitution and some who are without access to government support and have been left on the streets. While H4RC will continue to advocate on behalf of those in refugee camps across Europe we feel it is necessary to also support newly arrived refugees and those facing hardship in the UK. Often refugees arrive with nothing except the clothes on their back so your support will help us provide basic necessities for families and unaccompanied minors.

100% of your donation goes to refugees. Receipts for all purchases are available to donors on request.

Thank you

I have some items to donate, but I would also like to join your group with a workshop for the kids. I am a primary teacher with Dip TEFL, a certificate in Neurodevelopmental teaching an MA in Childhood studies and Children' s Rights , I speak fluent Sapnish, French and English. I have worked with the Refugee Education steering committee here in London and my thesis was about unaccompanied refugee children in the UK. I am very interested in helping and would like to offer your group a children's lit workshop for the refugee children. Please email me so we can further discuss how I could contribute and join you on your next trip.
