Cure for Cassidy

My name is Cassidy and I am 4 years old. On September 12, 2013 I was diagnosed with Bilateral Wilms Cancer. Being so young I don't understand everything but my mommy does her best to make every scary procedure I go through not as bad. I've had many scary procedures done such as Pic line placement, MRI, CT Scan, EKG, X-Ray and Blood draws all with my mommy right by my side every step of the way. Both of my kidneys have large cancerous tumors, and the right kidney is covered almost completely and may get removed during surgery. Fear not, there is still a large amount of hope that I may able to keep the left! The cancer is also growing up my Superior Vena Cava which is the main vein that returns blood to the heart.
I started Chemotherapy on September 18, 2013, hoping to get rid of the growth in the Superior Vena Cava so that they do not have to preform such a dangerous surgery. I recently found out that I will be going to Boston at the end of my 6 weeks of Chemotherapy to have my tumors re-imaged to see how the Chemotherapy affected them and to plan my surgery which will also be in Boston, far from my home.

As of Thursday October 3, 2013 I am half way through my Chemotherapy treatments. But after each treatment I have been hospitalized for at least 2 days due to fever and low white blood cell counts resulting in blood transfusions. My battle so far has not been an easy one but I am a little warrior and I will continue to fight each and everyday until I am CANCER FREE!!.

May 15, 2014 I DID IT!!! I got cancer free scans, which means I am one step closer to reaching my goal of one day being CANCER FREE!! Although this is amazing and exciting news for everyone im not out of the woods yet. The chemotherapy medications that I received caused heart problems that have to be kept under close watch to prevent further heart damage, which means more doctors appointments and medical bills. Along with the heart problems I only have half of one kidney which makes it difficult to treat my heart problems because the doctors dont want to overwhelm the remaining portion of my kidney with medications making this a slow process. So far my kidney is doing okay but my lab results are touch and go hopefully this is only a minor bump in the long road that I still face towards making a full recovery. Being a little warrior is only half the battle, As you can imagine my medical and travel expenses are high, This is where I need your help! With your donation I will be able to continue my journey down the long road of treatment so I can reach my goal of one day being cancer free<3
