Craig Reagan is 52 years old with a wife, 13 year old twin boys and a 19 month old baby girl. Craig was raised in New Caney and attended New Caney ISD from Kindergarten through 12th grade graduating from New Caney High School in 1985. Craig graduated from TX A & M in 2002. Craig was diagnosed with ALS July 29, 2016. This diagnosis was confirmed by Mayo Clinic on August 19, 2016. He has been experiencing symptoms for over 4 1/2 years. ALS can strike anyone at any time for any reason! It's cause is yet to be identified....
As you may know ALS was the subject of the Ice Bucket Challenge 5 years ago which raised approximately $115 Million domestically and $220 MILLION worldwide. Unfortunately, the ALS Association, the beneficiary for all of the proceeds from the Ice Bucket Challenge, has done nothing to contribute to funding the most promising treatments and continues to sit on the bulk of the money. As a result, promising treatments are stuck in the drug development pipeline. The most promising treatment (NurOwn) remains at least 2 years away.
Costs to care for ALS patients can be exorbitant. The ALS Association estimates that the annual cost of care averages $250,000. Fortunately, he has insurance so that helps covers the bulk of the expenses. However, the costs going out are never ending.
We are trying to raise money for upcoming medical expenses, some of which are experimental in nature and thus not covered by insurance.
Craig needs these funds AS SOON AS possible due to the rapid progression of his symptoms. He needs to try to stop it before it robs him of his ability to speak, eat and breathe unaided. Thank you in advance for anything you are able to contribute!
