Living with illness

Donation protected
In 2014 Caleb Andrews was diagnosed with “stage 4 glioblastoma brain cancer”. Caleb had his first surgery  September 2014. Post-surgery Caleb has partial paralysis on the left side of his body. Because of this he has limited use of his left arm and hand and has difficulty walking.

Following his surgery he underwent 4 weeks of radiation therapy and 3 years of chemotherapy treatments. Since his diagnosis Caleb has defied very long odds and has outlived the general prognosis of this terminal disease. Fast forward to fall 2017 and Caleb's cancer returned. He underwent another 4 months of chemotherapy but the cancer has continued to grow. Caleb met with his surgeon recently and is awaiting scheduling for a second brain cancer surgery as soon as possible.

My name is David Matthews, since Caleb’s initial diagnosis, I have been blessed to be Caleb’s “Sherpa” on his difficult journey. During this time I have stood by his side to help him and support him as he fights this insidious disease. Not once have I heard Caleb complain about his illness. He has a positive mind, body and spirit and continues (as he puts it) to live one day at a time. His strength and courage are inspirational!

This gofundme campaign has been set up to help Caleb continue his fight with his terminal illness without the worry of his day to day expenses and if he’s able, it will help him fulfill some of his final life wishes.

When his fight is over, Caleb’s wish is to help others who find themselves in similar situations. At Caleb’s request and as his “Sherpa” it will be my responsibility to see that any funds that remain after Caleb’s passing will be “paid forward” to other gofundme initiatives supporting those with terminal illness or emergency medical needs.

Please help me help Caleb, as he continues to defy the odds and continues to live, “one day at a time”.

All donations are gratefully accepted.

Thank you for your support!
