Relief From Hurricane Rescue

Donation protected

My name is Ryan Frye. This account is used to help repay the debts that I owe for rescuing 5 personnel, that had lost everything except for documents, from Puerto Rico after hurricane Irma and Maria had destroyed everything they owned. The Main Photo is Linda (sister-in-law), Kimberly (oldest niece), Jeimelis (niece), Jenisha (youngest niece), Jaime (nephew). I am currently Active Duty Military in Europe that was granted leave for emergency situations.

This started on Friday, 29th of September at dinner when my wife got a call from her biological mother. She had finally heard from Linda (took 2 weeks after Maria to find somewhere with connection) asking for help before the signal was cut off. Few hours later, Linda got a hold of my wife stating they lost everything (Linda's house, Kimberly's house, vehicles and everything in between except for paperwork and one book bag per kid). Once they lost connection again, me and my wife decided we need to do something. After a few hours of discussion, we decided that I would plan and execute a rescue, with proper approval.

After days of planning, resourcing (survival gear, rations, water, filters/purification for water, medical supplies, etc...), Intel collection, financial aid and briefing supervisors, I was finally able to get the green light to go get them out. Before the last contact with the family (Monday, Oct 2nd), I told them to meet me at the airport at 110pm (local) on Wednesday, Oct 4th (my b-day) to link up. *This contact was deemed last since Linda could no longer get rides to signal areas around San Juan. Gas and money was exhausted.* At this point I was determined to get them out.

I flew to Fort Lauderdale from Italy, by my wife's mothers house to repack my bags to fly into Puerto Rico within 12 hours. I made link up with the family at San Juan Airport around 130 pm on Oct 4th. This was the first time I had ever met them. They had ran out of food and money on that Monday and my nephew was a little sick from the tainted water that the river had became.

After 5 days of battling the odds, The weather, the chaos, everything worked out with a flight out of Puerto Rico on Sunday, Oct 8th at 8am. I was planning on being there for 2 weeks, but was lucky enough to get out in 5 days. They will not be able to go back to Puerto Rico for years to come. They are rebuilding their life in the Fort Lauderdale and Miami area, to get on their feet again.

***I am willing to answer questions, comments, and go into FULL detail of what happened through "Facebook" (Ryan Frye, account name [email redacted] (It will be a picture of me as I'm leaving for Puerto Rico)) or "Email" ([email redacted]).***

Cost Expenses:
- about $800 for gear, equipment and supplies
- $5,189.87 for travelling prices (myself to get into Puerto Rico, get all 5 members plus myself to Fort Lauderdale, get myself back to Italy) - $1,062 for a safe place for 3 days. Secured by bars on door and windows, and abandoned building. No electric or water.
- $517.58 for rental (was able to secure a rental right away instead of moving by feet or grabbing rides from connections)
- $584.50 for anything misc. (Random food that we could buy and save rations for emergencies, funds for places to stay when we didn't have safe house, anything not covered already).

Total requesting donations:
8,153.95

As said Before, please PM on Facebook or Email to better explain what happened there. 5 lives where saved but came at a huge financial ticket.

Thanks for considering and anything extra will go towards the kids for clothes, school supplies, medical expenses, etc...
