4,000 Hearts for the Arts 2017

4,000 Hearts for the Arts aims to connect supporters, makers, and believers of the ARTS to the Portside ArtsMobile Project so that, together, WE can drive arts integration into local Philadelphia schools.

If 4,000 individuals donate $20, we will reach our fundraising goal of $80,000-- enough funds to cover an entire year of arts integration programming, which
will impact 3 schools, 6 teachers, and over 250 children.

What is Arts Integration?
Arts integration is 50% arts and 50% academics.  By design, it works to make academic concepts that may be challenging more easily accessible, and aims to improve student's experiences in the classroom.

About the ArtsMobile Project ...
Currently the ArtsMobile has designed curriculum that allows children to explore math, literacy and science concepts through....
• Painting geometric murals
• Drawing hybrid animals using multisyllabic words
• Making quilt squares out of fractions
• Creating paper out of organic materials & More!

Student Art Work Slide Show!

In addition, the ArtsMobile creates artistic opportunities for special needs students to investigate social and emotional skills. Our method engages all types of learners and provides opportunities to access academic content through the lens of an artist.

Our Results...
Since 2015, the ArtsMobile project has impacted 250 students, 6 schools, and 12 teachers. We have noticed improvements in almost every student. Our post assessments from last year revealed an average growth of 20% in targeted academic subjects.

What you will support...
Your support will help to fund a 6-month residency arts integration program in 3 different Philly schools in the 2017-2018 school year.

Your support will cover the cost of:

• Program supplies for 250+ students
• Space and resources for student art shows
• A teacher resource library
• Field trips for 250+ students & their teachers
• Fair wages for our accomplished teaching artists

If we reach our goal we can focus our energy on developing more curriculum, expanding to new schools, and securing larger institutional donors to contribute to the sustained success of The Portside ArtsMobile for years to come.

ArtsMobile Testimonials….
“Overall, the ArtsMobile Program was fun, effective, and hands-on, all of which enhance student learning and interest.”- Ms. Robinson, Mother of Divine Grace

“Excitement and enthusiasm from students, artwork was displayed throughout entire year, provided a connection between school and after school by having a community organization present.”
- Principal Kimmell, Horatio Hackett Elementary School

The Current State of The Arts..
There's no way around it-- funding for the arts of all disciplines is under threat, and though the danger is now plastered in the headlines, the truth is, the arts have been under siege for some time. When schools struggle, visual arts and music programs are the first to be cut, despite consistent research-based evidence that these subjects are inexorably connected to academic achievement across the board.

Because there is no way around it, we'll work through a solution, together. The truth about the benefits of the arts on all facets of development is evident in each person affected-- and cumulative research helps broadcast this truth for everyone to see.

“We know that students do better in math who had strong arts opportunities. That success in the arts supports student success in mathematics and indeed success in the arts also supports students' development of language skills and their ability to think creatively.”
- U.S. Secretary of Education John B. King Jr. “What School Can Be” Las Vegas Academy of the Arts Conference April 14, 2016

Resiliency and Resolutions…
Shining a light on the importance of the arts by showing engaged and vocal support in grassroots campaigns like ArtsMobile is an invaluable step in turning the tides against the elimination of essential arts education for all.

Each donation brings another supporter of the arts into our network of creative and passionate people, and brings us closer to our goal of $80,000.

Connect with our vibrant community of educators, artists, social change agents, and leaders in supporting the sustained growth and health of the ArtsMobile by pledging your support-- and spreading the word!
