Immediate Need: I need about $5000 or $450 a month (committed in support funds) by January 15th, in order to move to Germany before August 2016.
Why am I moving to Germany?
I am joining a church planting team in Dresden, Germany. Less than 2% of the entire country's population have a relationship with Jesus. They are a "post-Christian" nation and the east is not surprisingly more bleak than the west. As the refugee crisis and the war on terror progress, Germany becomes a nation of conflict again. The country is divided by refugee supporters, neutrals, and Neo-Nazis. While the division is subtle now, it will become more pronounced as time passes. The present church is doing everything they can to help the refugees, but the church of Germany is small and not influential. I wish to join a movement that builds churches and enables the life-giving message of the Gospel to spread.
What will I be doing there?
My role will be to assist the team through youth (middle school through university) evangelism, mentoring/counseling, and discipleship. While my team strives to equip nationals to reach nationals, we also have a heart for the refugees and immigrants. The Ingrams already have relationships with refugees who are settling into Germany. I plan to do everything I can to love and support them. Ministering to Germans does not exclude this people group.
Why is it so important to get this money by Jan. 15th? My sending agency is The Evangelical Alliance Mission. TEAM requires all missionaries to attend a Pre-Departure Orientation before leaving the country. Unfortunately, there are only 2 PDO's coming up, in 2016. The first is in February. The second is in July. In order to be eligible for PDO, I have to have a large percentage of my funding received.
Why is 2016 so important?
The refugee crisis is making the visa situation harder and more complicated. While getting into Germany may be easy, asylum seekers will change the visa application process. I don't know what the future holds. I want to get into Germany now, before obtaining a visa becomes impossible.
