Help Support The Ashton family!

$11,140 of $15,000 goal

We are raising money to help our lifelong friends, The Ashton Family. They lost everything in the Glen Ellen fire on October 8th. Stephen & Justine Ashton have lived on this property for 50 years, where they raised three beautiful girls: Aurora, Tara and Sarah. Their daughter, Aurora, also made her life there as an artist for the past 20 years. Tragically, the fire was so fast and furious they were all forced to evacuate with only the clothes on their back. Everything they've built, owned and possessed has been destroyed, and the devastation has left them without homes. They are the most loving family, their doors always open to fellow artists and friends! They've worked tirelessly to enrich our community with the arts, film and activism and are crushed by the loss of what they've cultivated on that property: the Wine Country Film Festival, Ashton Vineyards, Phoenix Productions, photography and art.  We want them to feel the support, in whatever way you can generously share so they can access some of their immediate needs (clothing, housing, food) and begin to rebuild some of the losses that unfortunately weren’t covered by their insurance policy. Any amount is appreciated. We are devastated, so many memories on that property. But the Phoenix will rise from the ashes! Thank you!

A personalized letter and update from Steve and Justine:

Dear friends,

We write to share our gratitude for the outpouring of support we’ve received since losing our home in Glen Ellen during the October wildfire. After moving through six temporary housing placements we landed in a small Glen Ellen cottage where we've been able to process the magnitude of our loss and start plans to rebuild our home, barn and vineyard.

Like so many others who lost everything, we are underinsured; however, your generosity has made it possible for us to get back on the land we’re so connected to. Your financial support, kindness and encouragement have helped us level an area below the burn site and purchase a small RV cabin to live in while we begin debris clearing and oversee the rebuilding process. We’re looking forward to witnessing the new Spring growth around the property and the new buds on the surviving grape vines, as well as tend to the daily needs of the recovering vineyard.

This continues to be a journey as we navigate through the multitude of emotions, as well as take care of the enormous amount of details needed to piece our lives back together. It's our friends, family and community who have kept us elevated and hopeful. We truly thank ALL of you!

Sending heartfelt blessings and best wishes to the new year.

Love,

Justine and Steve

P.S. A word about Clem, our orange barn cat. She survived the inferno and greeted us three weeks later when we were allowed back. She's a true survivor! We can't wait to get back to seeing her roam the land!
