Restorative Justice: A Path to Peace

Donation protected
I'm passionate about Restorative Justice and other Restorative Approaches. They're an effective way to repair harm within and between communities and peaceful communities are a foundation for global peace. Over the last decade I've been facilitating Peacemaking Circles and Restorative Justice Circles and I've seen the results - when conflicts are brewing, when victims of crime suffer and those who cause suffering learn to be accountable, when old unresolved hurts pile up until they erupt in fights, or when people simply need to come together, to listen and learn from each other and find a way forward together.
Now I've been invited to share Restorative Justice Approaches, principles and practices with Asian and Muslim professionals, peace activists and students who can take R.J. home to the communities where they live and work.
We'll be doing lots of R.J. role plays, based on real cases, or practicing with scenarios the participants bring, so they can experience R.J . approaches themselves.
I'll share all the information I've gleaned but a lecture on RJ isn't enough, reading a "how to" book helps, but isn't enough either. Experiencing R.J. makes all the difference. And experiential opportunities and lots of discussion is a big piece of what I want to share.
As a presenter and facilitator I'm a volunteer. I don't receive an honorarium, so I need your help to cover travel and other expenses!

Please consider how you might help spread R.J. and support this community based way of creating a peace filled world.

The organizers are:
International Institute of Peace Studies: The institute offers courses and runs workshops across Asia on peace studies and human rights. It provides training for peace building, healing, negotiation and reconciliation. It also hosts interfaith forums and dialogue exchange in order to create practical solutions to pressing social issues.
The Asian Resource Foundation (ARF) has been building the capacity of individuals, community based NGOs and organizations since its inception in 1996. Empowering Asia and peace building across political and religious barriers underpins all its programs.
Asian Muslim Action Network (AMAN) is a network of progressive Muslims in Asia seeking to respond in a small way to the numerous challenges that people in Asia are currently facing: including increasing ethnic tensions, violence against women and children natural disasters and ever-increasing environmental degradation. The overall objective of AMAN is to build understanding and solidarity among Muslims and other faith communities in Asia and develop programs that lead to people's empowerment, human rights, justice and peace.
