Hi! We're the YWAM Biarritz Surf and Snow DTS 2019, and this is our story...
The Background
This past October we, a team of 13 individuals from all over the world, got together on a Discipleship Training School, which is a 6 month course divided into a 12-week lecture phase and an 11-week outreach phase, in Biarritz, France with the Christian non-profit organization Youth With A Mission or YWAM (you can check out their page here). The past nine weeks have been a whirlwind of lectures that have been centered around who God is, and who we are in Christ, and these lectures have allowed for so much of the foundational basis of the faith to be explored in an in-depth and thorough way, which has allowed us to 'put on God's glasses' so to speak, or see things in the way God sees them.
The Vision
Currently we are getting ready for the second part of the DTS, the outreach phase preparing to “Go into the nations” as we were called to do in Matthew 28:19, because we believe the Lord has called us into the Middle East for a period of evangelism, and to work with refugees who are flocking into the region from Syria. Then we are going to travel to the plains of Africa to help pioneer the Christian Church that has been greatly lost to the Islamic faith. Armed with the sword of the spirit and the shield of faith we are prepared to take on the risks that are associated with entering into these nations.
The Goal
As a school we are, however, in dire need of financial income. Currently, we have raised around $20,000 towards the total cost of the school, and are in need of $12,500 more for flights and living expenses in these nations. This number is the total amount needed to fully fund the entire group and it is essential that these funds come in by December 31. We are all working tirelessly to see these funds come through by praying and trusting in God, but also by taking the initiative to think up ways of raising the money. In faith we have heard from the Lord to go into these nations, and in faith we are asking for your help in raising the money, and for prayer in this season of our lives.
