Biggie’s Finger Is Broken

Donation protected
Biggie is a 1 year old owl monkey. He grabs the attention of any room once people see him. He is a rare primate who’s species originated from Panama. He uses his front hands to eat and do daily activities just like you and I. On September 24th 2017 his finger was accidentally smashed between a hammer and a nail. Unlike a cat or a dog biggie doesn’t qualify for pet insurance that would assist with this. Biggie was rushed to a local vet where they were unable to test biggie. The local vet was only able to provide him with a shot of pain medication and an anti inflammatory. The local vet contacted University of Florida in Gainesville Florida. UF has a research center that specializes in owl monkeys. Their research center has over 30 owl monkeys on site. The local vet referred Biggie to a doctor there. After speaking to the doctor they informed us that biggies examinations would cost $800-1000 before the surgery and at least $1700 extra after the surgery was performed. The only option if he cannot have this surgery is to have it amputated. The local vet stated that monkeys are “self-mutilators” he will try to chew the finger off to “get rid of the pain If it isn’t repaired. Biggie only has about 2 days to have this surgery and it is urgent. He would greatly appreciate a donation to assist with his vet bill.
