Uber Driver In Atl Shot on the Job

Donation protected
Hi, everyone. My name is Tony: library associate and graduate student at UWG; as much as I hate having to do this, I feel as though this will help to spread the word about what has happened to me and possibly change the way Uber handles similar incidents.
On July 28th of this year, I was transporting a passenger for Uber when a passerby opened fire on my vehicle while we were stopped at a red light. At least 4-5 bullets were fired into my vehicle, shattering the car windows and hitting me in the chest as well as in the arm.
I later learned that this same person shot a woman in the face only moments before, so I do feel blessed and grateful to the Lord that my injuries aren't more severe. However, I have yet to regain full mobility and strength in my arm, I am still experiencing pain, and half of my arm is still numb due to the nerve damage caused by the bullet entering and exiting.

On top of that, my insurance company determined that my vehicle was a total loss which has only added extra expenses to a situation that was costly from the beginning. I now have to worry about paying medical co-pays for my numerous doctor visits and upcoming physical therapy, as well as having to purchase a new vehicle that I simply can't afford.
Uber has been completely non-responsive in terms of attempting to pay for any damages. I received 1 phone call from an Uber employee who apologized for what happened. When I asked about possible compensation for damages, I was given the runaround and have been unable to contact anyone since. This period of my life can best be described as scary and uncertain. It's frustrating laying awake at night wondering how I will pay bills that are merely the result of some criminal who easily could have taken my life.
I would appreciate any assistance offered and anything at all would help pay for all of these unexpected expenses. Thank you so much for taking the time to read all of this. I've also provided a link below to one of the news articles written about the incident. http://www.ajc.com/news/crime--law/uber-driver-woman-critical-after-gunfire-erupts-atlanta/GrdMC42NBTRHfsq2rXLrkK/
