PAWS FOR BAILEY

$14,792 of $18,000 goal

We are trying to raise money for my little girl who is 8 and has type 1 diabetes. Everyday is a struggle to control her sugar. I want Bailey to have a normal life as a child, and with a diabetic alert dog she can do that. This dog will alert Bailey when her sugar reaches a danger zone. Sometimes she reaches them and doesn't even know it. This is not good for her. So please help us in any way you can. Bailey deserves to be normal just like any other kid.

Haven't posted anything in awhile. So here's an update: We raised enough money to get Baileys dog Molly. We will be getting her in May. We are still doing a few things still to help with supplies, vet bills and whatever she may need. From the bottom of our hearts we want to thank everyone that has made this possible.

Just wanted to say thanks for people that are still donating. Any money that we receive goes into an account and all funds are spent on the dog. For example: vet bills, food, grooming, etc. we really do appreciate all the help and we can't wait to get Molly-Bailey's dog

Bob Hunt, Bailey is on the pump and yes it does help her. I don't want CGM because that's another needle my daughter has to stick in her. Did you realize she is only 8? She is already a human pin cushion and get's tired of being poked all the time. Bailey's sugar levels reach very high and dangerous lows and doesn't recognize them. You being a diabetic should know that is dangerous if it stays high to long or goes to low what could happen. With a dog, it would alert us before that happened. I am looking out for Bailey's future. I want my child to live as normal of a life as possible. What kid doesn't want their own puppy(best friend)? Every child does and this one will just help her. Thanks for the information though. Already done that not long after she was diagnosed. My child's future and health are very important to me.

Why a dog when an insulin pump would be much better and cheaper? I am a type I diabetic and was like Bailey sugars up and down all the time with daily shots. Has her doctor suggested a pump and CGM instead of a dog? If not get another doctor, especially an endocrinologist some one who specializes in diabetes. Call Medtronics 1-800-646-4633 to find one and get more information. If you keep her on shots only she will developed kidney failure, eye problems and neuropathy in her hands and feet. A dog will just alert, a pump will keep her well. Do it for Bailey's future.
