Unexpected Miracle's Chance At Life

Many of you know this beautiful little girl that I am going to tell you about. For those of you who don't, her name is YanYuan and she is a inspiration to all of us. YanYuan's journey began when she was adopted in 2009 at the age of 2 with a very serious case of Congenital Scoliosis, leaving her with a 119 degree lateral curve in her spine at birth. Her spinal cord was tethered and split which caused constant pain and gave no chance of survival. Having no idea how we were going to help YanYuan, we adopted her on raw love and hope. It was scary to see how deformed she was when I arrived in China, but we knew we were sent to save her life. Her first surgery, which untethered her spinal cord, was soon after her arrival. It was called the marathon surgery, lasting 12 hours, but it was a huge success. This happiness was short-lived as we realized this was only the beginning. As time went on YanYuan's condition became life-threatening again as her lungs became compressed. After years of hospital visits with doctors not able to take on her case, due to the risks involved, we found a doctor willing to take on the challenge. He alarmed us by saying that we had run out of time and surgery needed to be immediate. Before we knew it, we found ourselves standing in the hospital as YanYuan was put into halo traction (see picture above) for two months. Now, as we approach August 31st, YanYuan will be heading into complicated spinal surgery to give her a chance at life. We are asking for any help to fund YanYuan's journey.
