Dairy and Creamery

Donation protected

Jim Richardson's (owner of Richardson Farms) dream of having a small farm dairy and creamery is almost complete!  About 2/3 of the cost ($240,000) has been borrowed and will be paid off in a 10 year note.  The last 1/3 of the cost ($100,00) includes: finishing the inside of the dairy barn, farm store and cheese rooms.  This means all the electrical fixtures, septic system, plumbing fixtures, refrigeration, pasteurizer, bottler, and cheese vat must still be purchased before we can start the dairy for you.  It also would include the water storage tanks for rain water collection, parking area and completed fencing for the dairy cows.
We need your help with the last 1/3 of the cost of the dairy.  The concrete portion of the dairy barn was a very complicated project that involved more financing than we had anticipated.  There will be 4 Texas Dept. of Health Permits ($800.00 each) needed to complete this project, plus a "per unit fee" to cover state inspection and sampling of the products.  This is a requirement before we can sell any dairy products.
The completed dairy and creamery will offer Grade-A Raw Milk, cream, butter, cheese, as well as a complete line of Richardson Farms Meats and Grains.  We are also planning to offer "low-temp. pasteurized" products at the farmer's markets that we attend, and to restaurants.  This building will include: farm store, cheese making room, a cheese aging room, the milking parlor, compostable lounging area for the cows during bad weather, and opportunities for educational visits for families.  There is ample area to be completed up stairs for an apartment for dairy employees.
Jim's future plans include "edible landscaping" for the grounds, with a grape arbor for guests to enjoy during special events.  Chefs would be welcome to host "farm to table" events at the dairy.
Richardson Farms Dairy and Creamery is located approximately 1 hour East of Round Rock, Texas, in Milam County and about 10 miles North of Hwy. 79....easy access!!
The funds are needed immediately, in order to complete the dairy.  We are very thankful to each of you for all of your support of Richardson Farms and hope to continue serving each of you with our new endeavor of Richardson Farms Dairy and Creamery!
