Walk for my father/Cancer Awareness

I am asking for donations so that I can obtain gear for a fundraising walk, provide financial assistance to my parents for medical bills, and donate to a cancer awareness and survivor support foundation. 50% of the donations will go to the foundation, 40% toward my father's medical expenses(copays) and daily living expenses, and the last 10% is for the supplies, lodging, and gear I will need to achieve my goal. I intend to complete a donation and awareness walk from Texarkana, Texas to my fathers home in Morrisville, North Carolina. It is a journey of over 1,000 miles, but the old saying goes each journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. I'm taking the first step, the last step and each step in between for love of my father and to bring awareness of the importance of cancer screenings and treatment.

Those who know me know that my father is very important to me and my best friend. He has supported me through my greatest moments and my dumbest mistakes. This is a journey I undertake for him and others suffering with cancer. My father's strength, resilience, and determination to survive and overcome has inspired me to push my own limits and encourage my own personal growth toward wellness and good health.

I will set out to begin my journey for October 29th. As I travel from Texas through Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina into North Carolina I hope to engage local media to encourage them to raise awareness about cancer screenings and treatments in their communities. We need to spread the word about screenings and encourage those afflicted to keep fighting because one day we will have a cure.
