On July 30, 2013, the NC Shakespeare Festival (NCShakes) suspended its operations, canceling its productions of Macbeth and A Christmas Carol, due to financial challenges. Since then, it has returned to limited operation that includes its spring Shakespeare To Go statewide tour, its youth theatre programming and a series of classes and seminars intended for teachers and students.
NCShakes has kicked off a special fundraising campaign to help the company return to full operations by the 2014-2015 fiscal year. Called "˜Once More Unto the Breach,' the campaign embraces Henry V's famous exhortation to his troops to join in ardent battle once more in order to gain the victory. NCShakes hopes funds will be raised to help meet its budget needs this year and seed a return to full operation next year.
Please consider making a gift to NCShakes today. Your support will help bring back the NCShakes you know an love, a theatre that has stood for artistic and educational excellence across North Carolina for 36 years.
