Medical bills, college fund

We are raising money for my deceased brother's wife and son. My younger brother, Ben Brooks, was killed in a drunk/buzzed driving accident on 09/01/2013. Please refer to the story "Motorcyclist killed in two-vehicle crash" on channel3000.com. Here is the current link to my brother's tragic story: http://www.channel3000.com/news/motorcyclist-killed-in-twovehicle-crash/-/1648/21755528/-/383padz/-/index.html

The night before the Labor Day holiday, my brother was riding his motorcycle with a passenger, and he was rear-ended at an intersection by a drunk driver. My brother was not at fault and did not want to die - he did not want to leave his wife and 3-year old son behind. Ben loved life! He also was a produce farmer and had vegetable and fruit stands in the Baraboo area. He would often donate food to pantries and to other people in need in his community. Here is a link to his obituary: http://www.wiscnews.com/news/local/obituaries/article_2720946c-a1b8-5ab5-b33c-e76c27a975a0.html

Since my brother was a new small business owner, he could not afford health insurance. In addition, his life insurance policy was not renewed, so it expired. We are concerned that the drunk driver's insurance company will try to fight us about paying the expensive healthcare bills (med-flight, ER costs, life support, etc.) since my brother was not wearing a helmet and did not have a current motorcycle license. My family does not have the means to pay for these bills. We are asking for your support.

We are also hoping that this site will help raise awareness about the critical dangers of drunk and buzzed driving. We would like to encourage all supporters of our family to make a promise to not drive recklessly. If you or someone you know drives while under the influence of ANY quantity of alcohol or other drugs, we are pleading with you on behalf of my late brother to take a vow in his honor to end this reckless behavior. *Always remember to find a designated driver, take a cab, or walk home. #friendsdontletfriendsdrivebuzzed

My brother was a giving person and always wanted to be an organ donor, and this wish came true when he become an eternal hero on Tuesday. Early Tuesday morning, he donated his pancreas/kidney, liver, and heart to three people with his close family at his side throughout the process. He also was donating other organs and tissues, saving and improving the lives of numerous others. Please consider supporting my courageous brother's wife and son by making even a small donation. If we are fortunate enough to have any of the medical bills paid for by the drunk driver, we will place any additional raised money into a college fund for my brother's son, Little Benjamin.

Thank you in advance for your kindness and support. If you have questions or comments, please contact me (Jessica Brooks - older sister of Ben Brooks) at [phone redacted] or [email redacted].
