Penny Dog Surgery Assistance

Donation protected
My boyfriend and I took our lab for a walk tonight. During this walk we witnessed another dog run across the street to meet us- only to be hit by a car. The driver immediately stopped and was hysterical. Penny (the injured dog) dragged herself into the woods to hide in safety (I assume). The owners immediately came out of their house and the husband began looking for her. My boyfriend searched the path along the power lines while I helped the owners look in the woods. Eventually I found Penny hiding in a group of bushes a couple houses away. The owners immediately took her to a local ER vet.
I am amazed and grateful that there are still people in the world who give a damn.
The driver was crying and left her child in the car (AC on) as she was trying to figure out what to do. Apparently she immediately drove home (in our neighborhood) and told her husband. Within minutes he was at this house helping in our search.
The owner (Dan) took my number during he search and rescue effort.
He just called me to give me an update.
Penny may have a broken leg- or maybe just severe bruising.
Either way- she is going to be fine.
He invited us over for coffee anytime.
Tomorrow we are going to drop by with a 'get well doggie bag'
Our hearts are lifted after seeing such a traumatic event.
UPDATE:
From the owner who we went to see today. There are still wonderful people in the world and my heart is lifted again!
DANIEL:
Hi friends. Last night my dog Penny was hit by a car. She is in hospital now and it looks like a broken hip which will receive surgery on Monday. I wanted to express gratitude to two lovely couples from my wonderful neighborhood that stopped to help. Stacey and Danny helped me find her when she ran into the woods. Kristen and Brad were also wonderful and a great help and comfort too. Until yesterday, I knew neither of these neighbors. What truly amazes is that Stacey and Danny both stopped by my house this morning to check on Penny's condition and brought a really nice basket of doggie goodies! Not 20 minutes later, Brad and Kristen stopped by also! We have exchanged numbers and hopefully have already forged a friendship! I plan a little dinner party soon Any cynics out there that "hate" people or think being neighborly is gone are wrong. Thanks guys! It's great to know all four of you! Penny is a lucky girl!

Penny has a broken hip. Already her emergency vet bill is over a thousand dollars. The estimate on her hip surgery to cure infection and permanent damage is 2000$.
We wish we could give it all to Dan and Mary right now. We're asking for help in raising this to get Penny the care she deserves. Anything will help!

Thank you!
