According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, 1 in 6 runaways end up being sex trafficked; 83% of children who run from social services make up that 1 in 6.
Within the first 48 hours on the street, a child WILL be approached by an exploiter/predator.
These children are EVERYONE's children. We need to step up and take responsibility for our missing children.
It is our mission to bring these children to safety and raise awareness of their plight.
You can make a difference. Join us in bringing our children home showing them they matter.
Sign our petition to ensure:
1. Every child upon check-in to care will have a safety kit placed in their file that includes:
Photograph (Updated EVERY 6 months)
DNA Swab
Prints and Dental Records
2. Mandatory recorded video conferencing with appointed guardian, foster child, and caseworker prior to check disbursement. This will make it easier for caseworkers to stay in touch with every child on their caseload, regardless of distance. This will also prevent foster parents from having the ability to cash in on a missing child. Also, this will prevent caseworkers from filing false reports indicating that they performed a home visit.
3. Release ALL details of missing foster children the public and to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children with the following:
Name of Child
Date of Birth
Photo
Location
Date Last Seen
Possible Whereabouts
4. Demand a CURRENT headcount of every child currently in foster care utilizing the video conferencing system above.
Failure to make contact between the caseworker, foster child and foster parent must result in an IMMEDIATE home visit to verify the whereabouts and well being of the child.
5. Stacy Alert:
Treat ALL missing foster children as endangered by instituting an alert similar to an Amber Alert called a Stacy Alert, in remembrance to 15-year-old Stacy Duke who was an unreported missing/runaway foster child found strangled in a garage.
Accountability for not commplying with IMMEDIATE REPORTING to law enforcement and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. In the U.S. this is the law, caseworkers are not following through.
One in six endangered runaways reported to NCMEC in 2016 were likely sex trafficking victims.
86% of these likely sex trafficking victims were in the care of social services or foster care when they went missing.
