An Alaskan's Leap to The Bolshoi Ballet

My name is Máire New and I am an aspiring ballerina from Juneau, Alaska. In the summer of 2013 I was given an opportunity to study for six weeks at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow, Russia, as part of the NSLI-Y program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. After I returned home from the program I received an email informing me that I had been selected to train at the academy for the coming year! With the support of many, I successfully completed my first year in Moscow, and was then one of only 10 girls from my level of 30 invited back to continue studying for a second year. I expected to return to the academy for another three years, but in January of my second year I was moved into a higher course, which will enable me to complete my training in May of 2016. With your help, I am positioned to become the first Alaskan ever to graduate from the Bolshoi Ballet Academy!
When I started ballet at the age of 12, I never dreamed that I would be given the opportunity to dance at one of the most prestigious ballet academies in the entire world. It is a huge honor and an absolute dream come true for me!
In order to pursue my passion for dance, I need your support. The tuition alone is $2,641.60 per month, and although my parents completely support me, the money is quite an obstacle. I am reaching out to you to ask for your help so that I can continue to discover, improve, and grow as a dancer and person! I will be grateful for any donation you can make, no matter how great or small.
Knowing that there are people who are pulling for me when I'm training overseas away from family means more than you could ever imagine.
