Fight For A Cause: Unlock the Lachs

This is Lachlan (Lachy) Glyn Downey and Unlock the Lachs is his cause.

Lachy was born 15.03.2010.  It's hard if not impossible to know how and where to begin this story.  So I'm going to start with the simple facts. Here they are.

Lachy was born with an undiagnosed progressive neurological disorder.  He had a written diagnosis of severe quadriplegia cerebral palsy.  He underwent numerous surgeries and was fed through a P.E.G. in his stomach.  He suffered from Laryngomalacia which meant he worked hard for every breath he took.  He spent a significant amount of time in hospitals and always fought to smile which he would do as soon as he started feeling better.  

His eyes were the windows to his soul. He was very bright and aware of everything going on around him. He was simply trapped in his body that just wouldn’t work as it should. He communicated with his expressions.  He had the most beautiful blue eyes and long eye lashes and when he engaged you, you fell instantly in love with the spell he put over you.  He was magic.  And still is - in our hearts and minds.  We suddenly and sadly lost Lachy November 2013.

In loving memory of Lachy, his parents and family founded Unlock the Lachs.  Unlock the Lachs' intention is to carry on Lachy’s legacy and honour his memory by paying his love forward.  They are 100% local.

Unlock the Lachs knows that most of the all abilities families’ financial choices revolve around the requirements of the child.  This situation attracts extra pressure on all relationships within the family.  Their mission is to support the whole family by putting a smile on their faces and enabling the creation of happy memories.  Memories are invaluable, priceless and irreplaceable and we have them with us always in our hearts and minds.  Little things make big differences to people’s lives.  They believe that we all have special needs, it’s simply more obvious in some but what makes each of us happy is different.  Lachy opens hearts to all of our inclusive community and they want everyone to know his magic.
