Give loving support for Dave and Gail

$13,520 of $100,000 goal

This fund is being set up for two of the nicest people in the world.

Primarily for Dave's medical bills and his expenses as he recovers from his motorcycle accident. Dave suffered many severe injuries from the accident including the loss of both arms. Dave has had extensive surgeries thus far and will have many more in the future. As well as many, many months of rehabilitation.

Dave is a loving and devoted father and grandfather. Family means everything to him and has always brought him pride and joy. He is such a loving and caring man, such a great person to look up to. He is so independent and has always worked hard all his life to provide for his family and others. An unfortunate motorcycle crash has change his life and the lives of his family forever.

For Gail, his devoted loving partner and caretaker. I don't think there is anyone who can say that they haven't been touched by Gail's caring nature or her generosity. She has always been a best friend to everyone, loving family member and just the most caring human being there is. She has always worked very hard all her life. She has cared about each and every one of her students as if they were her own. Her teaching career has brought her much joy and she has changed the lives of many, many students by having such a dedicated and devoted teacher. She has always been there for all who have known her ~ she has always been the friend who was there to help whenever needed ~ and now it's our time to give back and to help them.

Dave and Gail are both so proud. They would never ask for help from others. But realistically, the medical bills and just daily expenses since Dave's accident are going to be accumulating rapidly and will be an extreme challenge for them to overcome. All donations will go directly to the family to assist with the care that Dave will need now and in the future. Thank you for your generosity.

Today we celebrate 4 years of life! We continue to learn, continue to hope, and continue to live! Dave continues to stay positive and live his life as best as he can. His positive attitude and perseverance has truly made this day a celebration! Today we started our day at Spaulding, going to a support group as Peer Visitors. Hoping to give new amputees hope for their future. Showing them that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Letting them know that their life will be different, but there is life to be had and life to be lived. Last week we went to a Limb Loss conference in Louisville, Kentucky. Spaulding sent us, so we also wanted to thank everyone for giving us such an amazing opportunity. There were over 1100 amputees there! Meeting such amazing people and hearing their stories was so inspirational to us. Everyone's attitudes and outlooks on life were amazing. Everyone there were survivors and lovers of life. This was also the message we wanted to bring to the support group today. Love life, love who you are, be proud of your accomplishments no matter how big or small! So today we celebrate 4 years of life! We look forward to celebrating many, many more years of life! We thank all of our family, friends and everyone that has supported us to get to this point!
Much Love,
Dave and Gail

My yearly update. Today is a rather gloomy day, 3 years ago, the day was bright and sunny. Though gloomy outside our hearts are filled with sunshine today! Writing this helps us to see the sun every day, move forward, stay positive and continue to look forward to each and every day. This morning as Dave and I discussed this day three years ago, Dave said, " it was easy for me, I don't remember any if it, I slept through it, where you, you lived it." We then discussed how we are continuing to live our lives as best as we can. Some days are harder than others, they may not all look pretty, but we live and continue to be grateful for every minute of every day. We continue to be grateful for our family and our friends. We are grateful for all the support that we have gotten and that we continue to get. We our grateful for our three beautiful grandchildren and happily awaiting our fourth! We are grateful that our grandchildren are able to learn from their grampy who loves them more than they will ever know. We are grateful and continue to be grateful for all the nurses, doctors, and therapists that pulled Dave through, got him walking, got him where he us today! We are grateful to be able give back!
Much love!
Dave and Gail

Two years ago today I was looking at the walls of the ICU unit at UMASS medical center. Two years later We are looking at the view below. Two years ago I wondered why this happened....two years later we still wonder, but we wonder...what should we do this weekend? What should we have for dinner...we are living life, we are laughing and crying. We are thankful...for each other, for our family, for our friends, for a second chance.

This past Saturday, August 8th, Dave and I got married. It was such a wonderful day. We were surrounded by our families and friends. The love that was felt was incredible...two years ago, we waited, we prayed..two years later, we are on our honeymoon! We are making this date change from one of unknowns, to one of happiness and joy looking forward and never back!

As always we thank you all for your continued support and love!

With all our love,
Dave and Gail Whitty

We are celebrating Dave's one year anniversary of being home. A year ago we were excited, scared, so ready for Dave to be home! All the emotions of that past year, everything Dave dealt with and accomplished led to him coming home. We didn't know how everything would work out, but waking up that first day home and having that first cup of coffee, we knew that everything would be ok! Dave has such a great attitude, he has worked hard this past year to become strong. He has walked every day and built up his stamina to the point where today he walked in a 5k in Foxboro! He completed it in about 84 minutes to the cheers of the crowd! He is thankful to all his therapists who got him to this point. He also graduated from physical therapy this week at Brigham and Women's at Patriots Place. Dave never ever ceases to amaze me, he is my strength. He pushes himself daily to do more, to learn more, to live life to its fullest! We both know how lucky we are to be where we are a year later. Dave has a purpose in life...he continues to motivate and inspire people. Just today as we were grocery shopping a woman came up to him to tell him what an inspiration he was and how she was watching him and just how great it was to see him out and living life. She said she knew what he has gone through, not sure how, but she seemed to know about him. It was just nice for Dave to hear that from a stranger, just like today as he crossed that finish line, the cheers and congratulations from everyone. Times like this make you feel the worlds not so bad!

As always thank you all for your continued love and support! Xoxo

We are members of First Presbyterian Church of Bloomsburg, PA. Although we do not know you personally, we have prayed for you often and followed your progress. You have inspired many people (all of you--as individuals, as a couple, and as a family). God Bless.
