Eye Gaze for Georgia

Donation protected

My little sister Georgia was born 6 weeks early on the 26/04/2007. She weighed just 1.516kg. They wouldn't run any eye tests they do for premature babies as Georgia was 0.016kg heavier than the government guidelines allowed premature babies to be to have the tests. They would only test babies that are 1.5kg and under.

Due to not being allowed to have any tests Georgia wasn't diagnosed blind until September 2007.

At 8 months old, Georgia stopped eating and hasn't ate since.

Georgia also has uncontrolled epilepsy, Nystagmus, plagiocephaly, autism, double incontinence, cannot speak and is reliant on the ketogenic diet in bottles. The ketogenic diet is a special milk formula that stops some of Georgia's seizures but cannot stop them all, especially the big ones. Georgia will never be able to care for herself, she will always need someone to look after her.

In addition to this, Georgia has Gorlin's syndrome.
Gorlin's syndrome means she is at a higher risk of having skin cancer places and cysts. Georgia has already had 3 cysts removed from her jaw. The oral surgeon said they were the size of golf balls!

It has also been recently discovered that Georgia has a problem with the gene CNTNAP2.
Only 3 people in the world have this and they are all girls. They're unsure what the prognosis with this is as the eldest girl with this is 11.

As close friends/family know, due to Georgia's complicated medical needs, She has never been able to communicate properly with us. She has never been able to tell us how she's feeling or what she would like.An amazing lady at New Fosseway school decided to try Eye Gaze with Georgia. The Eyegaze System allows children and adults with cerebral palsy, brain or spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis and other diseases or conditions to control their surroundings and communicate with others, using advanced-eye recognition software. The lady didn't expect it to work with Georgia as Georgia cannot fully control her eye movement. However, Georgia has amazed everyone and been able to work the technology. They are continuing to use it with her at school but we now need to try and get it at home so she can communicate with us also. The hurdle with this is that the basic set up is £3000, money my family do not have. We have had it suggested to us that a go fund me page would be a good idea.We would love more than ever for Georgia to be able to communicate with us and this technology will enable her to hopefully do so.And who knows, maybe one day, with the help of this technology, Georgia will be able to thank you herself❤️

We have set the target at £7000 as we have been told that each programme is £1000 so it'd give us the money for the basic set up and a few programmes for Georgia to learn to use to get her on the road to communicating :)
