Support Culture Shock Showcase

With over 100 dancers, 5 dance troupes, ages 5 through adulthood, and the support of alumni, Culture Shock® Washington, DC, Inc. (CSDC) is dedicated to innovative performance, artist development, and community enrichment. Through the power and beauty of Hip Hop music and dance, CSDC strives to promote a positive message of self-worth, dignity, and respect for all people.

CSDC was founded in 2002 by Margareta Chughtai and Brian Resurreccion as a part of a network of dance companies called Culture Shock Dance Troupe, Inc.® Each year, Culture Shock Dance Troupe, Inc. celebrates the creation of this network by bringing together dancers from all 8 cities: San Diego, Los Angeles, Oakland, Las Vegas, Chicago, Ottawa, Toronto, and Washington, DC. The 2013 International Choreographer's Showcase: Destination D.C., will occur on October 18 "“ 20, 2013.

Over 300 local, national, and international dancers will participate in this weekend of events. We expect nearly 2000 community members, including youth, families, dance supporters, college graduates, and people from all races/ethnicities, professions, ages, and varying backgrounds to participate in the wide range of events throughout the weekend. International Choreographer's Showcase will allow all of us to come together to broaden the reach of Hip Hop culture, inspire people of all ages who have a passion for dance, and to spread our message of respect for all to the surrounding community.
