Reunite Slavojka with her sister

We’ve gotten to know Slavojka over the past year and look forward to her warmth and laughter every time we meet. She’s witnessed our “acclimation” to the first year of parenthood and never batted an eye at the chaos; she snuggles Anders like he’s her own and even embraces our two crazy boxers (who have drastically fallen in the household pecking order). Her generosity of spirit and positive outlook are that much more inspiring considering the trials she’s experienced in her life
Slavojka arrived in the US with her husband and young son as Bosnian refugees twenty years ago. They fled Serbia after their apartment was hit by two grenades resulting in her husband becoming a paraplegic. SevenDays, a local Burlington paper recently featured their story in an incredibly heart-warming article about international love stories: http://www.sevendaysvt.com/vermont/international-relations-three-love-stories/Content?oid=3165522
As soon as Slavojka became a citizen in 2000 she submitted a visa application for her sister who was still in Bosnia. Sixteen years passed with no news; but a few weeks ago Slavojka received word that her sister and brother-in-law’s visa had finally been approved!
Because much of the financial burden of this transition will fall on Slavojka and her husband, we’d like to help her purchase a flight from Belgrade to Boston. This is a scenario where a little will go a long way.
Thank you for letting me share Slavojka’s story with you!
Love to you all.
