2020 Boston Marathon

This letter serves as an announcement of what I feel to be both good news and bad news; I will get the bad news out of the way first.
On or about July 17, 2020, my career serving the town of Duxbury will come to an end as I must retire. Duxbury is a community that I have served with great pride, dedication and love for 46 years. It will be a bittersweet moment in my life.
Now, on to the good news! As a way to mark the end of one chapter and the start of another, I will be running the 2020 Boston Marathon with fellow officers on behalf of the charitable organization Cops for Kids with Cancer. Our goal is to raise $46,000...that is $1,000 for each year that I have served the town of Duxbury.
Cops for Kids with Cancer is an organization that I am very passionate about and am extremely dedicated to helping. As a father, the heartache and struggle these families contend with when this awful disease enters their life is unfathomable. As an officer, it is another way in which I can help my community. Cops for Kids with Cancer is able to provide some relief for these families during this difficult time. The first fundraising event I participated in was their annual motorcycle run a little more than 10 years ago and I am fortunate to have participated each year since as well as in other events over the years.
