On Friday, June 30th 2017, my beloved Chihuahua, Heidi, escaped from her caretaker while I was on vacation. She was frightened by a thunderstorm and ran as fast as she could. I hurried home to help look for her, we had many kind friends and neighbors looking for her as well. On Monday, July 3rd, we received a call from Tuffs Animal Hospital saying a dog was brought in matching the description of my lost dog ad. I went to the hospital to determine if she was mine, and it was my Heidi. She has no broken bones, but has moderate to severe head trauma. The doctors say there is hope she will recover, she shows signs of cognitive function, such as whimpering when hearing my voice, and involuntary leg movement. Her recovery will require her to be held in the hospital until she can walk again. Over night stays at the hospital are pricey, we are looking for the same kindness we received when looking for her to also help fund her recovery. I greatly appreciate every little bit you can give. Thank you.+ Read More

Heidi was able to hold her head up by herself today , she is doing better. They put a feeding tube in her neck because she is too nervous to eat. Now that she is getting nutrition and moving around more, the doctors said I can possibly take her home this weekend!
We had a good update today from the doctors. They said she isn't walking yet but she is trying to support herself a little more. She is still whining and crying which they said is also a good sign. They are possibly going to take her out of intensive care today!
