Ralph's Medical Fund

Donation protected

I am writing this as a plea for help with Ralphs medical care.  I adopted Ralph into his furrever home December 2015.  He was heartworm positive at adoption and was taken to the Veterinarian immediately for treatment options.  He completed his heartworm treatment in January 2016 and has been heartworm negative ever since.  Unfortunately, he has significant damage to his lungs and airways that are causing life threatening illness at this time.  He was admitted into the Charleston Veterinary Referral Center April 12, 2017 as an emergency admission.  During advanced diagnostics it was discovered how damaged his airways are.  He has been diagnosed with severe pneumonia and currently is having difficulty clotting his blood.  He has been placed on a mechanical ventilator as he is not able to breathe on his own.  His prognosis is grim at 20% survival but I feel he is truly a fighter and deserves the best care and chance possible. We are not ready to give up on him.  The estimate for his medical care over the next 5-7 days to give him a chance is up to $20,000.00.  The funds will be used at Charleston Veterinary Referral Center (CVRC).  This will cover the cost for 24/7 medical care in one of the few Level 1 Certified Veterinary Hospitals in the nation.  CVRC has been accredited by the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (IVECCS) Unfortunately, time is of the essence to keep him on the ventilator and continue medical treament.
Ralph has been a great addition to my life and has a tremendous personality.  He keeps his regular veterinarian and staff laughing with every visit, insisting on being fed carrots and green beans to walk around in the hospital.  He refuses to leave without bribery!  He has the sweetest disposition and has been dealt a difficult hand.  Nothing bothers Ralph.  Not homelessness, not foster care, not heartworm treatment, not a chronic cough, not an injured knee, and not his new dad who never seems to give him enough carrots!!  He sure as hell isn't going to let a little pneumonia break his chill!
He taught me how to not give up and keep looking for the sunny spots in life.  I love him, and I think he deserves one more roll in the grass.  Please help me make that happen.  Anything you can do to help him will be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Richard
