Today marks 1 month since Thom was due home. There is still no sign or clue as to what may have happened to him. With no official search on going , Thoms family still prays for some resolution. Thoms brother Jerry and nephew Ryan are up searching the area again today through Thursday. Hoping to find some clue that may have been missed previously.
The money you have all so generously donated allowed Thoms family to hire, and helicopter in, trained searchers and dogs in the most critical hours. This page will remain up for those of you who may wish to share it , for those that may wish to donate to Thoms immediate family as they struggle to cope with not only the loss of Thom but the effect that his disappearance has wrought.
Your continued thought and prayers are very much appreciated.
You all are so awesome! Still no sign of Thom after a weekend search by Devin and Jerry. Several hikers in the area this weekend, and hopefully in the next few weekends more hikers will be in the area. More eyes always help. God Bless you all
Thank you all for your generous support . Your compassion means so very much to Thoms family . The search is continuing on a smaller scale now, but they are not giving up. Thank you for keeping them all in your prayers .
From Devin McCoy:OK everyone, I made it back. The SAR Dog Team was a-lot more thorough then the previous team and made it to all the lakes and searched the trail extensively. Even with all that though, there was no sign of my father. I'm not positive if I'll go back up to the lakes again. If I decide to do so, I'll let everyone know.
Update: Team Devin, (devin, jerry, frank and ryan m.) were helicoptered into found lake this morning, They will search until sunday.
Search Dog teams were also Helicoptered in today, will stay overnite and come out Saturday. Mountaineers are also involved with this search. Helga contacted me about people wanting to help search, and thank you so much for your offers. This time there is a small crew, because of the dogs. I'm really not sure what our next move will be if we don't find him. I can only pray and hope that this time they do.
I am so thankful for the faith, support and generosity of all of you, it means so much to me,
Keep the search team in your prayers today as they resume the search at Found Lake . Kayak search team is in the river today again looking from a different angle. Positive energy and prayers that they all remain safe and that Thom is found soon. Thank you all for your support and for continuing to share this page . You are appreciated beyond measure.
follow up on previous post: No definite word on when official search may resume so Team of family and friends going in via helicopter Friday am to stay and search for the weekend. Keep them in your prayers. and THANK YOU for your continued support !
here a note from Devin McCoy, son of the lost hiker at Found lake:
Hey Everyone, I know I haven't been updating all of you on my father search efforts as of late but Helga Roberts has been doing a great job for me . Anyways, As of right now, I went in with the dog search team via helicopter to found lake yesterday and had the dogs do their best. We got some strong signs that he is in the Found Lake area still but, he wasn't found. After talking with Skagit Sheriff Office and a few of the deputies that I've been in contact with regularly, it sounds like they're going back in with a dog search team. That should be as early as tomorrow but for sure this weekend. I'll be contacting them again today to see If I can aid in the efforts by going back into found for the fifth time.
I want to also take this post to thank everyone who has either donated their time to the search effort that took place last weekend or who donated money to the Gofund Me page to help pay for all the search efforts (dogs, helicopters etc). I can't believe how many people showed up last weekend and how many people are still donating towards my dads rescue. Thank you all. I swear none of your time or money will go in vain
MISSING: THOM MCCOY Thom McCoy went on a multi-day hiking/camping trip to the Found Lake
Area in the North Cascades, alone, the week of August 6th - 10th, 2013. He was
due home Saturday, August 10th, but has not been seen or heard from. His car
was located at the trail, Search and Rescue and family and friends have covered
the high lakes area from 8/11 on with ground and air searches. Because no sign
of Thom or his gear was found, the Sheriff's Department and SAR suspended the
official search on August 14th; they will resume the official search if any
clues are found. Family and friends have continued to search. The family wants
to hire a private helicopter and private Search and Rescue Dog Teams to
continue the search, but they need help with financial resources.
Estimates at this time for helicopter time, dogs and handlers is about $6,000.
Anything you can give will be helpful. This is a critical time, the longer the
search goes on the harder it will be to find him.
