Madilynns Fund

This is Madilynn, she is a very happy and active 1 year old who was born premature at 31 weeks. When she was born she had a hole in her heart, a tight valve, and a heart murmur. She is still seeing a cardiologist for this. Then on August 16, 2013 Madilynn was diagnosed with Retinablastoma, an Intraocular Tumor, and Glaucoma, all in her right eye. This is a very rare and aggressive type of cancer, with only about 300 cases in the United States a year. She will be blind in her right eye, except for being able to see some shapes and bright light, for the rest of her life. If they can not get the cancer shrunk and under control, if not they will be removing the eye and giving her an artificial eye.
We go back to Children's Hospital next week to put the port in and start chemo. We will have to travel to Seattle Children's Hospital on a weekly basis when we are not staying up there for a few days here or a week there. It is expensive. If her eye is removed it is not fully covered because it is considered a cosmetic surgery as well as some of her medication is not fully covered.
