Help our dream come true.

Never in a million years did I imagine myself having to ask for the kindness of other people to make my dream of becoming a mother come true, but here I am.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always known that I would marry the man of my dreams and together we would start a family.  There was never any doubt in my mind.  I’m fortunate enough to be able to say that I fulfilled one portion of my dream and I now turn to you for the other.

Children have always been my passion which was evident in my career choices. I first began working with children at the age of 11 at the neighborhood toddler camps and then I progressed onto summer camps as I got older. I quickly realized that child care was where my heart was and so I began my college journey in pursuit of an Associates Degree in Education.  While I was attending college, I was lucky enough to work with infants and toddlers at the local Boys and Girls Club.

I began dating my husband in my late 20’s and we had quite a few happy years together before he asked me to be his wife.  I couldn’t have been happier!  Then August 19, 2012 happened.  We were driving home from a weekend getaway away when our car was hit and careened off the highway and into a tree.  Wedding plans were put on hold while I spent months in recuperation after suffering massive internal injuries.  Eric stood by my side through surgeries, doctor visits and hospital stays.  One of our concerns with my extensive injuries was, “will we be able to have children?”  After having multiple surgeries I was told at that time all my reproductive organs were perfectly intact.

On May 3, 2013, I married the man of my dreams and we immediately began working on our shared dream of starting a family.

After trying for several months with no luck, we went to see a fertility specialist where we were informed that as a result all my injuries and surgeries there was extensive scar tissue wrapped around my fallopian tubes basically making having a baby “the good old fashioned way” virtually impossible.  IVF is our best bet.  While we both do have health insurance, IVF is not covered.

So here we are: trying to come to terms with the fact if we want to have a baby, we need to have IVF.  This brings us to asking for the kindness and generosity of others to help us reach our goal of starting a family.
