Peter's recovery fund

My brother Peter was at work as usual at the fly-fishing store a couple of days before Christmas. Suddenly he felt tingling in both legs and had to sit down. Then terrible pain set in and his co-workers drove him to the hospital 10 minutes away. By that time he couldn't walk or feel anything below his waist. He was taken 80 miles by ambulance to a hospital specializing in spinal injuries. After about a week flat on his back, the diagnosis came back as transverse myelitis, a severe inflammation inside the spinal cord that damages the nerves operating the lower half of his body. No cause, no cure, could happen to anyone out of the blue. After 2 months in acute rehab and one month living with us, he has made tiny improvements but , it remains to be seen as to whether he will regain continence or the ability to walk. He had to give up his job and his home, move to a different town where he knows only the 2 of us. There are many things needed to change one's home to accommodate a wheelchair as well as home-health care providers who are paid out -of-pocket. He is living financially with only his social security check. My hope is to be able to have care givers come to our home, purchase all of the mechanical items he needs, and send him to a trainer to help maintain the all-important upper body strength. Peter needs some help!! Thanks to everyone for taking a moment to read this!
