Gambling Awareness For Teens

Hi my name is Si. I'm an actor and comedian... oh and I was also a gambling addict.

Gambling addiction almost ruined my life and for that reason I would like to educate children and teens in the UK about the dangers of modern gambling and just how easy it is to become hooked.

For many when they think of gambling addicts they may well imagine a dusty old bookmakers with a lot of folk gathered around a TV set, frantically watching a horse race. Whilst that scenario may still exist, modern day gambling addicts come in all forms (some have never even set foot into a bookies or casino due to the ease and availability of online gambling sites and apps)

Last year British gamblers lost a record £13.8bn including an all-time high of £1.82bn on controversial fixed-odds betting terminals (FOBTs).

These alarming figures are only set to increase with the amount gambling firms spend on TV advertising alone more than doubling since 2012 to a record high of £162m.

I am asking for your genorisity in order to help fund a drama based educational project to help warn the young people in our country about the dangers of gambling and gambling addiction.

We want to talk in schools, colleges, youth centres, local authority ran groups and programs and anywhere else we can to help young people understand the very new ways in which gambling can destroy lives.
