IN A BLINK OF AN EYE!
Imagine one day waking up, going to school/work, just a normal day but you feel a bit under the weather, you carry on as it is probably just flu.
That is what our nephew did, but within 24 hours, he had a high fever, blinding headaches and throbbing unbearable leg pain. In 48 hours he was in a coma, he awoke 2 weeks later unable to move his limbs, has neuropathy (horrendous constant pain) and a loss of some of his motor skills.
And that my friends and family and anyone else reading that, is the horror of viral meningitis - it can hit anyone, any age and at any time.
Our handsome, clever and loving nephew Elliot. Elliot worked very hard and was accepted at Cal Arts, a prestigious art and film school, founded by one of the Disney brothers. Getting into this school was a feat in itself, Elliot worked night and day at a supermarket to earn his own money to live away from home and nearer school. Elliot is an amazing brother to his 2 sisters and brother, a loyal friend to a loving group of young men and women, but most of all a loving son to his parents , my brother and sister in law, Barry and Krisanna.
Elliot survived viral meningitis, JUST, it was extremely touch and go for a few weeks. Now a few weeks later he is home and at present is finding it tough. To wake up paralyzed is unthinkable, but its happened to our beloved Elliot. To see your child nearly lose his life
is unthinkable, but it happened to Barry and Krisanna. Now we all need to help and support for our family and your friend and a young adult with his whole amazing life in front of him, but he needs IMMEDIATE help.
Next steps is to get Elliot and the family the help they need. It is simple, healthcare in the US is ridiculously expensive and insurance only covers so much. His recovery 100% depends on a simple thing, Physical Therapy. Elliot needs daily physical therapy to get the nerves in his limbs activated again. The doctors hope for 100% recovery BUT the initial few weeks after this kind of illness is Physical Therapy is key and at present daily Physical Therapy is out of our budget scope ,, so we need to help and we need YOUR help asap.
