Devin's Road to Recovery

Devin Costa is my friend... and if you know him or even have met him, he is your friend too! He is a father...a husband...an athlete and an all-around amazing guy. We have known each other for 22 years. We met through the sport of Outrigger Canoe racing and we still paddle and race together today. He has always been there for me and I have always tried to be there for him. We have had each other's backs through many challenges, but today I need some help as I can't do this alone.
In May, Devin awoke on his birthday with a horrible flu. He was down for over a week and as he recovered he noticed a lump in his neck that wouldn't go away. Thinking it was just a swollen gland, he went to the doctor. In July, a couple biopsies later, it was determined that Devin had oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma both in his lymph nodes and his left tonsil. On July 29th Devin underwent a significant surgery to remove his left tonsil and all the lymph nodes on the left side of his neck.
The surgery was mostly successful with a small margin remaining which still needs to be addressed.
This type of cancer has a high incidence of recurrence and the sequela of chemo and radiation can be quite devastating (loss of salivary glands, loss of teeth, jaw degradation and inability to take food by mouth). Because of this, Devin and his family have decided to pursue alternative treatment in Frankfurt, Germany at the Infusio Integrative Clinic (www.Infusio.org/programs/cancer/). Here a multidisciplinary approach utilizing cutting-edge science and technology coupled with nutrition, supplements and natural medicine will help speed Devin on his road to full recovery.
