Established in 1989 Gc the children heart fund Ethiopia (CHFE) was founded by Dr. Belay Abegaz, a pediatric cardiologist. since the establishment the founders with key donors were able to achieve many things. The establishment of a new hospital located in BLH, equiped with basic equipments and supplies and the first heart team Ethiopia which functions in dependently is a major success for the past ten years.
The center currently has 11 subspecialized doctors, 56 high level trained nurses and alliied health professionals. Two fully furnished building around Besrate Gebreal were bulilt by government and donors support as the only income sources for CHFE. Materials, supplies and medications are mostly donated from international partners and professionals .
Since 2009 beginning with 85 cardiac surgeries and the CHFE currently is doing 4880 cardiac surgeries in 2019 with 1885 cat lab and 3637 outpatient followups.
The center is facing challenges in availing medical consumables for this patients due to lack of resources. In long term there is a plan for development of a strategic plan to make the center a clinical, academic and research heart institute of east Africa
የልብ ማዕከል በኢትዮጵያ ከተመሰረተ የ10 ዓመታት ጊዜ ውስጥ ከ4,800 በላይ ለሚሆኑ ሕፃናት (በዋነኛነት) እና አዋቂዎች የልብ ቀዶ ጥገና ሙሉ በነፃ እየሰጠ የሚገኝ መንግስታዊ ያልሆነ የሕዝብ ተቋም ሲሆን ይህም በገንዘብ ሲሰላ (ከብር 2—2·2ቢሊየን) በላይ ይገመታል። በእነዚህ የስራ ዓመታት ውስጥ ከፙሰጠው ደረጃውን የጠበቀ ጤና አገልግሎት ተጨማሪ ባለሞያዎችን በዋነኝነት ሐኪሞችን ወደ ውጭ ሀገር በመላክ በተለያዮ የልብ ሕክምና ዘርፍ በማሰልጠን (HEART TEAM ETHIOPIA)ሙሉ በሙሉ የሕክምና አገልግሎቱ በኢትዮጵያን ባለሞያዎች እንዲሰጥ ማድረግ ተችሏል ። ሆኖም በዚህ ሂደት የራሱ የሆነ የገንዘብ ምንጭ ስለሌለው እና ከመንግስት የሚያስፈልገውን ቋሚ ድጋፍ እያገኘ ባለመሆኑ በአሁኑ ወቅት ከፍተኛ ወጪ የሚጠይቀውን አላቂ የልብ ሕክምና መዳኒቶችና ቁሳቁስ ፍጆታ ማቅረብና ለማዕከሉ ሰራተኞች ደመወዝ ከፍተኛ ችግር ሆኖበታል ። ይህንን መሠረታዊና አንገብጋቢ ችግር ከመሰረቱ ለመቅረፍ እና በሁለት እግሩ ቆሞ የጤና አገልግሎቱን አሁን ካለበት ለማሳደግ በተጨማሪም ማዕከሉን በምሥራቅ አፍሪካ የምርምርና ሌሎች ባለሞያዎች የሚሰለጥኑበት ተቋም ለማድረግ ሕክምናውን እየተጠባበቁ ባሉት ሕፃናት ስም የነፍስ አድን ጥሪውን በውጭ ሀገር ለሚገኙት ኢትዮጵያውያን እናስተላልፋለን ።
