Miguel's Brain Surgery Fund

My name is Jocelyn, I'm from Milton, Ontario Canada. I started this fundraising to help my family in the Philippines to raise money for my 2-year old grandnephew's brain surgery after a vehicular accident on May 4, 2017. His name is Miguel, he was with his grandmother and his uncle that tragic day. His grandmother suffered injuries on her right arm, a complete fracture of tibia and fibula which requires a procedure called Open Reduction Internal Fixation (ORIF). His uncle who was driving suffered minor injuries. The procedure for Miguel is called Elevation of depressed skull fracture and craniectomy. The hospital requires a deposit of Php 300,000 or CAD$8,350 (USD$7,150) before they proceed with the surgery. They won't proceed if the family cannot make that deposit! The dangers involved if they don't do the surgery the soonest are: permanent brain damage, his language skills will be affected, and because he has depressed skull fracture, fragments of the skull can lacerate or bruise the brain or damage blood vessels in the brain. The mother's private health insurance from work won't cover this procedure for some reason. And PhilHealth, which is the universal health coverage in the Philippines, won't cover their procedures and other medical bills because of missed payment from January to March 2017. Yes! They are required to pay a monthly premium to be covered by that "universal" health coverage which most Filipinos below poverty line cannot afford.I am appealing to your good heart to save and give this two-year-old child, Miguel, a chance to live a happy and full normal life after this tragic accident.
