Help Sophie BECOME Sophie Legally

Hi!  Most of you know me as Sophie.  You may know me from my blog, A Woman Named Sophie , or from my outreach work, or maybe just from Facebook.  But that's not my legal name... yet.

You all know I'm Transgender.  I "came out" nearly two years ago.  What you may not know is that my transition has stalled due to lack of money.  I work retail, and barely make enough to keep a roof over my head.

I may be female to everyone, but my name is still male.  I can't afford to change it, as it is quite expensive to do so.  See "working retail" above.

Being True to myself is extemely important.  My inability to move foward with my transition has led to deep depressive episodes.  I must keep moving as to stop now would destroy all for which I have worked and sacrificed.  

Several people suggested I try this.   I am reluctant, as I dislike charity.  However, at this point, I don't see any other way.  

I'm asking for your help- Help me change my name.  Help me legally be named Sophie.  Help me with the next step.

I wouldn't do this if I had any other legal way of raising funds.  This is how desperate I've become.  Please- please help!

Any money left over from this drive (if there is any) will go to Renaissance Transgender Education Association.
